David Merritt, Esquire

David Merritt, a South Florida native, is both a graduate of the University of Florida, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and Florida State University, where he received his law degree in 2009. During law school, he was on the Dean’s List and received the top final grade in his Constitutional Law class.
During law school, he served as a Legislative Intern at the Florida House of Representatives. Following graduation, Mr. Merritt settled in Fleming Island, Florida, and went to work for Kenny Leigh & Associates. He chose to work at Kenny Leigh and Associates because he strongly believes in the firm’s mission, and in protecting the rights of fathers around the state of Florida. He has been with the firm since 2009 and was named President of the firm in 2024.
Mr. Merritt uses his extensive knowledge of family law and years of experience to help our clients navigate some of the most challenging family law disputes. He is a Barrister in the Florida Family Law American Inns of Court and is an elder at his church.
When not working, he enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife and daughters.
