Clear. Strategic. Transparent. Our Process.
See the step-by-step breakdown of how Kenny Leigh & Associates initiates your family law case.
01
Initial Consultation
The initial consultation is your first opportunity to meet with the attorney and review the specifics of your case. During this meeting, the attorney will evaluate whether you have a viable claim and outline the legal process you can expect moving forward. The consultation is entirely confidential and does not obligate you to retain our services. You will also receive a preliminary quote should you choose to move forward with representation. Please note that the attorney conducting your consultation may not be the same attorney ultimately assigned to your case.
02
Follow-Up Consultation
A complimentary 15-minute follow-up is scheduled after your initial consultation to address any questions or details that may not have been covered initially. This additional meeting ensures you have the opportunity to provide all relevant information and gain the clarity needed to make an informed decision about retaining our services. During this follow-up, you will also receive either an updated retainer quote based on any new information or a confirmation of the original estimate.
03
Retain Services
Once you decide to retain Kenny Leigh & Associates, you will receive a retainer agreement to review, sign, and date. This document outlines our fee structure and explains how our firm operates. You will then submit the retainer payment quoted during your consultation, which is required at the time of retaining our services. You will also receive a Client Information Form to complete, allowing our team to gather the details needed to officially open your case. Afterward, you will be notified of the date and time for your paralegal meeting as well as your first meeting with your attorney.
04
Paralegal Meeting
Approximately two business days after retaining Kenny Leigh & Associates, you will have a scheduled call with your team’s paralegal, which you will need to call into the office to attend. During this meeting, the paralegal will confirm the information we have on file and gather any additional details necessary to prepare your initial pleadings. This brief waiting period allows the paralegal time to review your case and begin outlining your pleadings, ensuring your call is as productive and efficient as possible.
05
Attorney Meeting
Approximately five business days after retaining Kenny Leigh & Associates, you will have a scheduled call with your attorney, which you will need to call into the office to attend. During this meeting, your attorney will review all pleadings prepared by the paralegal to ensure they accurately reflect your requests and goals. They will verify the correctness of all information, make any necessary revisions, and address any questions or concerns you may have about the next steps in your case. This timeframe allows the paralegal to complete a thorough draft of your pleadings and provides the attorney sufficient time to conduct an in-depth review, ensuring accuracy and efficiency during your meeting.
06
Pleading Filing
Once you have approved all pleadings, they are ready to be filed with the court. After filing, the Clerk’s office will issue a Summons to be served on the other party if a Petition has been filed. When the Summons is received, the paralegal will forward the pleadings to the process server. The service process can take anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on the process server’s ability to locate and serve the other party.
